Zach Cooper (CO2027) Featured in the Haas Student News

Zachary Cooper is a current LSBE student conducting cutting-edge cancer and gene therapy research in the Schaffer Lab. He is working on engineering viruses to better deliver treatments for diseases like cancer and neurological disorders, including building entirely new experimental platforms. Beyond research, he has launched a mentorship program and teaches a course helping students access biotech careers. His long-term goal is to become a biotech entrepreneur translating lab discoveries into real therapies.
Jonathan Lee (CO2026) Featured on Poets & Quants for Undergrads 2026 Best and Brightest

Jonathan Lee was named a Best & Brightest Business Major for combining Molecular & Cell Biology with Business Administration (LSBE) and demonstrating strong leadership, academic excellence, and entrepreneurship. He recently co-founded CraveX, a CPG startup that’s developing science-backed tools that help people reduce sugar cravings and make healthier everyday decisions. They have recently launched their first product: a functional gum that helps reduce sugar cravings. After he graduates, he will continue building CraveX into a scalable health and behavior platform.
Carolyn Nguyen (CO2026) Named Astronaut Scholar and Churchill Scholar

Carolyn Nguyen was named UC Berkeley’s first Churchill Scholar since 2016, one of the most prestigious STEM scholarships, funding graduate study at the University of Cambridge. She was also a recipient of the Astronaut Scholarship last year. Recognized for her exceptional academic achievement and research excellence, she represents top-tier scientific talent at Berkeley and demonstrates the global impact Berkeley students can achieve in science.

Jacob Williams (LSBE CO2024) was recognized as one of the Best & Brightest Business Majors of 2024 for his exceptional combination of science, business, and leadership. As an LSBE student, he conducted cancer immunotherapy research, earned honors-like recognition from the National Science Foundation, and co-founded a biotech consulting organization (Atlas Strategy Group). He plans to pursue an MD-PhD and eventually launch a biotech startup focused on improving access to novel therapies.

Nathan Hsu, an LSBE alumnus (CO2024), co-founded the startup Anchor Logics, which develops an AI-powered smart vest (PIEZO) to help patients with neurological conditions improve balance.
