Neuroscience Degree Overview

The Neuroscience (NEU) degree is a major option for the Biological Sciences side of the LSBE program. This degree is offered through the College of Letters and Science. Newly launched in July 2024, this degree offers a multidisciplinary approach to neuroscience with outstanding faculty and cutting-edge research. Through the LSBE program, this degree will be fulfilled simultaneously with a Business Administration degree.

This degree combines biology, psychology, behavior, and computation, providing a broad education that spans the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience. In this major, students investigate the nervous system on different levels, study how the brain functions in health and disease, develop neurotechnology, and explore the impacts of neuroscience on society. There are four research areas within NEU:

  • Circuit, Systems & Behavioral

  • Molecular and Cellular

  • Cognitive

  • Computational

*Note: Neuroscience was previously part of the Molecular & Cell Biology (MCB) degree as an emphasis. Starting from the academic year 2025-2026, the Neurobiology emphasis within MCB will no longer be accepting new majors, and students interested in studying neuroscience should declare the Neuroscience major.
